How Can We Beat Climate Change

How Can We Beat Climate Change

You can’t just turn a blind eye anymore. Climate change is happening now and no longer just a figment of our imagination. Our planet has endured enough and it is now showing drastic signs of our abuse and misuse of Earth’s resources. It even came sooner than expected and we only have ourselves to blame. Just look around you and you can see the answer. Technology is one of the major factors why all these things are happening. All the tech gadgets we are using uses up lots of fuel, something we may have not but may run out sooner. Remember that widely used energy today comes from non-renewable sources like fossil fuel. They aren’t just expensive but they may eventually run out in the coming years. What’s worse is that the combustion coming from the burning of these energy sources contribute to global warming, thereby leaving the planet hotter than ever as hot air is trapped in the planet’s atmosphere and consequently melts glaciers making the sea level rise.…

The Threat Of A Warming Planet

The Threat Of A Warming Planet

We live on a continually warming planet. Heat is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere and it’s not just our imagination. We can feel it happening all around us and it arrived earlier than scientists previously anticipated. All over the world, scientists continue to document climate-related changes that are fuelled by global warming and it is messing up our lives on a daily basis. Although we don’t always see it, major changes are happening all over the globe and they are more prominent in the face of natural disasters.

As if having to endure extreme weather changes isn’t enough to shaken things up, the cryosphere (frozen water or the ice found in water) is also melting that causes the sea level to rise and submerge small islands that can’t keep the rising water out. Aside from it rising, seawater also became more acidic that is detrimental to all sea life especially the ones with shell on it. And we mentioned about weather systems acting up, right? Year after year, natural …

Sports Games Put On Hold In Anticipation Of Hurricane Irma

Sports Games Put On Hold In Anticipation Of Hurricane Irma

People pursue different interests. Some excel in school and get really high grades. They pursuit education endlessly until they get their Ph.D. degrees while others are more interested in the arts. The arts are a broad industry with the visual arts, performing arts, and many others comprising it. You can choose the niche you like and some even make a living in doing the thing they love the most as a performer or artist. Then there are those who are athletic and love to engage in sports. You can choose from physical sports and mental ones and the list is endless, actually.

While some sports activities can be done indoors and safe from the elements, others have to be conducted in bigger venues like an arena or a playing field. However, games must be canceled in case of inclement weather where the area itself isn’t safe for both the audience and the players. Examples of such sports are football. And with hurricanes hitting the country consecutively, it no longer …

The UK Experiences Climate Change Along With The Rest Of The World

The UK Experiences Climate Change Along With The Rest Of The World

The world is changing and the climate is worsening. It is pretty obvious by now as we witness and experience first-hand the worsening of natural calamities and disasters that not only destroys properties but also take lives. It seems like we can’t just ignore global warming and climate change any longer. If you look at the state of the environment right now, you’d likely heave a deep sigh and wonder what awaits the future generation. We can’t leave behind a legacy of pollution, depleting resources, and a planet that is increasingly becoming inhospitable to all living things.

You are not safe wherever you are in the world. Whether you live in big cities like London or far-away rural areas, there are dangers lurking around the corner. A few scattered rain showers can trigger landslides in high-risk areas, hurricanes can lead to storm surges and heavy flooding, and earthquakes can cause tsunamis. Just look at Antarctica. A big chunk of a glacier, bigger than the entire US, has completely separated from …

Wildlife in Danger

Wildlife in Danger

When we talk about critical issues involving Mother Nature and environmental conservation, we only think of their effects on humans (especially climate change and global warming). However, we fail to include our non-human friends because as usual, we are too preoccupied with ourselves.

The wildlife is the first to suffer in the case of a natural/ man-made calamity or disaster. They are not as ingenious as us in getting ourselves out of trouble. So as the more superior species than that of our furry and flighty friends, it is but our responsibility to think of their welfare and well-being because obviously, they can’t think for themselves and these environmental issues are our fault in the first place.

Efforts to save some of England’s rarest species, including the shrill carder bee and the chequered skipper butterfly, from extinction are being backed by £4.6m in lottery funding.

Little-known and exotically named insects such as the bearded false darkling beetle and the royal splinter cranefly, as well as plants including the prostrate

Protect The Bees, Save The Earth

Protect The Bees, Save The Earth

Everyone on this planet serves its purpose. From the tiniest of insects to the most in-demand of crops, our lives are interconnected and we all benefit from each other – albeit not all the time – but more often than not.

While humans only see the bigger things in the picture like the flowers that bloom and the fruits on a tree, we fail to realize the means for them to grow and bloom like that. Bees have a lot to do with many things in nature. Although we often associate them with making honey, they help in the pollination of most plants and flowers and are far more important than we give them credit for.

Cas Olivier would like to create as much of a buzz as possible about conserving bees and relocating them, rather than killing swarms in Madibeng. He is calling on anyone interested in helping him.

Cas, who is a well-known bee-farmer from Hartbeespoort, is one of just a handful of bee lovers in the area,
